Aloha Everyone! My name is Mila, born and raised on the beautiful Island of Kauai, now residing Northern California.
I'm entering the Master's division in bikini and fitness competition in honor of my Mom, whom I lost to pancreatic cancer on New Year's day, January 1, 2013. My desire is to do all I can in the effort to raise awareness and help fund research aimed at battling this aggressive disease.
As I eluded to my life, it took a tragic turn for the worse. On December 10, 2012 my beloved Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My family was very hopeful that we could fight this deadly disease with prayer and innovative technology available to cancer patients today. Unfortunately, on New Year’s Day January 1, 2013, after only 22 days at 66 yrs old, my Mom finally lost the battle to cancer before she even got a chance to try and fight.
Every day since then, I have done my best to learn more about this progressive disease that is almost undetectable until it is too late for treatment. I have also been motivated to do as much as I can to contribute my time and effort to raise awareness and funds to assist in the battle against pancreatic cancer.
There is no expiration date when it comes to grieving. So, to help heal my body and my mind, I found myself working hard in the gym on a regular basis. That's where I came face to face with the opportunity to reach out to bring awareness and action to the fight against pancreatic cancer in the form of a fitness competition.
I hope that by competing, I can get my story out there and inspire others to work hard to take control of their future and in the process, help raise awareness and money to aid in the fight against cancer. Mahalo nui loa for your support and greatly appreciate your donations.
* Please make your gifts in memory of my mother Corazon Claro or in honor of my competition (Ms. Mila) by adding one of our names to your contribution information.
Respectfully, Ms. Mila
